The sale of Laid With LoveTM eggs in Booths has helped raise a healthy sum for research into cancer. Inspired by the team of Booths bikers during their Cure Leukaemia London2Paris cycle challenge, the Cure Leukaemia charity was chosen to receive a cheque for £5,000.

The Laid With Love pink egg brand pledges to donate 2p per dozen to cancer research and was developed by The Lakes Free Range Egg Company. They work with producers whose hens are fed on a diet naturally enriched with Lutein (a Marigold extract) – a natural antioxidant, which, research indicates has positive health benefits– fighting everything from cancer prevention to eyesight problems and ageing.

The brand has been available in Booths stores for over a decade, and with shoppers putting Laid With Love eggs into their baskets, it continues to help raise a healthy sum for research into cancer.

This latest £5,000 cheque donation from the sale of eggs in Booths, was presented to Nigel Murray, Booths Managing Director, in aid of the Cure Leukaemia.

Nigel Murray has supported Cure Leukaemia for three years and was Booths Team Leader on their Cure Leukaemia London2Paris challenge, alongside Chairman Edwin Booth and ten other colleagues.

Cure Leukaemia funds research nurses at 12 blood cancer centres across the UK. Choosing to ‘keep it local’, the Booths team aims to raise at least £50K to help fund a dedicated Haematology Nurse at Blackpool Teaching Hospital. It will benefit blood cancer patients going through treatment across Lancashire and Cumbria.

Nigel Murray, Booths Managing Director said, “The team here are incredibly grateful to our wider Booths family, and our brilliant suppliers like The Lakes Free Range Egg Company, for helping us support the vital work of Cure Leukaemia. This donation has helped to create the position of a dedicated blood cancer research nurse in Blackpool.   Dedicated research nurses play a vital role in medicine, administering treatment, supporting the patients and giving wider and crucial insight into how a patient copes with treatment.”

David Brass Chief Executive Officer at The Lakes Free Range Egg Company said “Our Laid With Love range has been in Booths stores for over a decade, and their customers have stuck with the brand since the launch. For consumers, eggs are a superfood and deliver on many levels –  from ensuring the best of British, ethical, and environmental provenance, to creating a really healthy, tasty and golden yolked egg that goes a step further to support cancer research.”
