The Lakes Free Range Egg Company (The Lakes) has begun an official partnership with Cancer Research UK
This exciting collaboration builds on shared values and the desire to bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
At the heart of the partnership is The Lakes’ award winning Laid With Love free range egg brand. The Lakes is donating two pence to Cancer Research UK for every dozen eggs sold, with a guaranteed minimum of £50,000 per year. These vital funds will help power life-saving research that benefits families across the north of England and beyond.
David and Helen Brass, owners of The Lakes said, “Since launch, our Laid With Love brand has donated thousands of pounds to cancer research charities in the UK. Last year, we were invited to Newcastle to see first-hand, some of Cancer Research UK’s research facilities, and to learn more about what they do. Our team were impressed by the breadth of research and their facilities, so we have chosen to make the charity the primary beneficiary of our Laid With Love donations.
“Winning a Great Taste Award, and now rolled out to retailers nationwide, these naturally golden, tasty eggs are not just a healthy breakfast, they are making a difference by helping fund expert cancer nurses, accelerating ground breaking clinical trials and bringing new treatments to patients faster than ever before.”
Welcoming this news, Nicky McKenna, CRUK Relationship Manager – North East England & Cumbria said “This partnership builds on years of incredible support from The Lakes Free Range Egg Company, who’ve donated over £65,000 to Cancer Research UK to date.
“We’re delighted to officially become The Lakes’s primary charity. Their passion and flexibility have been instrumental in making this possible, and I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to the team, especially to owners David and Helen Brass, Managing Director Mark Gaskin, and Sales Director Rebekkah Minchin-Hepburn for their unwavering commitment.
“Together we are beating cancer – step by step, day by day. Our work means that people with cancer live better lives through earlier diagnosis and kinder, more effective treatments.
“Partnerships like this help make our progress possible. Over the past 50 years, our pioneering work has helped double cancer survival in the UK. And today it’s continuing to save lives, here and around the world.”
To maximise the impact of this exciting new partnership, The Lakes has enlisted the help of FPP, an innovative shopper marketing agency whose credentials include work with some of Britain’s best loved brands.
Rebekkah Minchin-Hepburn, Sales Marketing Director at The Lakes said, “As we continue to expand our presence across more retailers, our focus is on raising consumer awareness, not only of the exceptional taste and quality of our eggs, but also the opportunity every purchase provides to support a life changing cancer charity. This partnership with Cancer Research UK allows shoppers to make a meaningful difference while choosing a product they can trust and enjoy. Our launch campaign “Cracking Good Eggs… Cracking Good Cause” is something we believe will resonate with consumers and we are excited to see our Laid With Love eggs making an even greater contribution to cancer research.”
Concluding, Nicky McKenna remarked, “Every box of Laid With Love eggs helps fund life-saving research. By supporting Cancer Research UK’s work, shoppers who buy these eggs are helping to save and improve lives.”
