The Eggstra special health benefits  of Lutein

Laid With Love eggs are produced by hens fed on a diet rich in Lutein – a powerful natural anti-oxidant which is extracted from Marigolds. Lutein occurs naturally in food like kale, carrots and corn, and eggs, with the lutein in eggs being most easily absorbed by the body due to the natural fat content of each egg.

Lutein has lots of health benefits – For years, research has indicated health benefits of Lutein – fighting everything from cancer prevention to eyesight problems and ageing. It’s good for your heart, brain and eyes (people take Lutein supplements to help prevent age-related macular degeneration)

Laid With Love®  eggs contain more Lutein than standard eggs, which means there are even more anti-oxidants– so they’re even healthier for you too.…. and by donating 2p per dozen to support cancer research, we think it makes them taste even better.

Laid with Love® hens are fed extra Lutein in their diet, so there is more Lutein in their eggs. That’s great news – because it means there are even more anti-oxidants in Laid with Love eggs than there are in standard eggs. You can tell when you have a Lutein rich egg because it will have a very intense yellow yolk and it comes in a Laid with Love®  egg box. They’re fantastic when used in cake recipes too.golden egg yolk Laid with Love

You can take the yolk test to see and taste the difference. Simply crack a Laid with Love egg into a cup, whisk it and compare it to a standard egg. You’ll see the difference and we think they taste better too!

Our Hens

Our workforce includes some of the best feathered, most cared for and happiest hens in the UK, producing tasty free range eggs. Our hens have the highest average egg production/bird in the UK – it reflects the loving care and attention they receive.

  • Chicks are locally reared, reducing stress from travel and our carbon footprint too.
  • Our hens are kept in flocks that are free to roam in fields and woodland enriched to improve their natural habitat.
  • Their naturally enhanced diet comes from a source we trust – the only added extra in their diet is a very healthy Marigold extract containing Lutein – which means we get the extra health benefits from our eggs.
  • Our farms are monitored by RSPCA Assured who check our flocks are healthy and content. Animal Welfare is critical, we set our standards at the highest levels.
