Sales of our pink brand of eggs sold in Tesco are helping in the fight against cancer. Tesco shoppers putting Laid With LoveTM eggs in their trollies are helping raise a healthy sum for cancer research – the latest donation of £40,000 has been handed over to Cancer Research UK.
Laid with Love free-range eggs from The Lakes Free Range Egg Company were launched in Cumbria, and then rolled out to Tesco stores across the North West. The brand pledges to donate 2p per dozen to cancer research and the latest cheque for £40,000 was presented to Cancer Research UK at the Tesco Carlisle store. Donations to cancer research from the sale of these eggs in Tesco continue.
The Laid With Love brand was created by The Lakes Free Range Egg Company at Stainton near Penrith; they work with local producers in and around Cumbria and more recently, further afield. The hens are fed on an enriched diet that includes a marigold extract in the form of Lutein which is a natural antioxidant. Research indicates positive health benefits of Lutein – fighting everything from cancer prevention to eyesight problems and ageing.
David Brass Chief Executive at the Lakes Free Range Egg Company said “For more than a decade, our Laid With Love brand of eggs has been delivering on many levels. Not only are the eggs produced to the highest ethical and environmental standards, they are also really healthy, tasty eggs that go one step further by supporting cancer research charities. It’s great to think that as a ‘superfood’ which is part of our everyday healthy diet, is also supporting such good causes. We know that people are more likely to choose brands that donate to charity, so the more we highlight the funds we are raising, the more aware people are of what we do and how they are contributing.”
Nicky McKenna, Relationship Manager NE England & Cumbria said “The Lakes Free Range Egg Company is helping to accelerate the progress of Cancer Research UK, to make new, life-saving discoveries. These discoveries will benefit our partners, children, friends, and colleagues, not just today but for many years to come.
“The staggering £40,000.00 donated by The Lakes Free Range Egg Company, will help to create a world, where everybody can live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. The Lakes Free Range Egg Company is demonstrating through its passion and commitment, a true understanding, that it is together, we are beating cancer. On behalf of Cancer Research UK, I’d like to sincerely thank everyone at The Lakes Free Range Egg Company for your dedicated support of our charity and our loved ones”.
