Frank and Brenda farm near Watermillock, a few miles from the market town of Penrith. The farm overlooks Lake Ullswater, tucked into the hillside over the lake. Franks birds freely range the hillside where they keep daily tabs on the comings and goings of this busy tourist location. The natural hedges, stone walls and scrub are ideal for the birds to spend the long summer days. These birds enjoy this natural environment and thrive on the lifestyle as do Frank and Brenda.
The hens are encouraged to range further afield because of the additional trees and shrubs planted on the farm. Trees planted include Ash, Dowdy Birch and Rowan, with a small selection of Sessile Oak, Wych Elm, Bird Cherry and Alder. There are a few other trees for quick growth and winter cover, all helping to encourage native wildlife too. The area is a rich habitat for species like Red Squirrels, Bats, Barn Owls, Song Thrush, Spotted Flycatcher, Redstart and Grey Partridge.
