Helen Brass with Ian Collingwood as the new Lakes Free Range Egg Co lorries arrive

There are striking new lorries on the roads of Cumbria and the Lake District this week. The Lakes Free Range Egg Company (The Lakes) has commissioned new liveries for their fleet, to build awareness and impact for their two brands ‘The Lakes’ and ‘Laid With Love’.

Demand for free range eggs from The Lakes has continued to grow, stretching capacity of their fleet. Expanding their distribution capabilities, four new lorries have arrived – but not until the dramatic creative designs were added by AST Signs.

Capitalising on the opportunity for mobile branding, The Lakes lorries are covered with a stunning scene depicting the Lake District fells as ‘egg mountains’.  It is the first time The Lakes brand has appeared on a lorry and has already created a stir. The senior team at The Lakes Free Range Egg Company kept the new look a secret from staff and drivers, only revealing it as the lorries arrived at the packing station.

The Laid With Love livery was first launched in 2012, but has also been updated to make more of their mascot – a ten foot high hen named Henrietta.  As well as featuring on the trailer, the Laid With Love branding has been extended to the cab, making it more eye catching and unmissable.

Ian Collingwood, Transport Manager at ‘The Lakes’ took delivery of the four new DAF lorries, two of which are 26 tonne lorries featuring ‘The Lakes’ brand – they will provide 25% more capacity than previous.  Ian said “Our vehicles stay with the driver and we vary their routes on a monthly basis, that way they get to meetmore of our producers and visit more of our customers too. The Lakes lorries are very dramatic and created an instant buzz amongst the drivers, we’re all pleased to see both brands on the roads – it’s mobile signage, every day of the week.”

When our new lorries turn up to collect their eggs, they’ll see first-hand something new and unmissable.

“As we work more closely with our customers, our lorries are travelling further afield. It’s excellent marketing for our brands, but we’re also hoping that ‘The Lakes’ lorries will help promote our area to visitors too. ”
