Farming for sustainable free range egg production

From our picturesque base on the edge of the Lake District National Park, the Lakes Free Range Egg Company produces and packs free range eggs.

From humble beginnings with 200 hens, we now have numerous flocks in the Eden Valley allowing us to deal more effectively with peaks and troughs. We also rely on a network of small family farm producers who follow our environmental ethos.

Research with our flocks

Specialising in organic and free range eggs, we are industry leading in production. Pioneering developments have been achieved by conducting research on our own flocks, experimenting with rations, rearing and management to improve animal welfare and commercial performance.

Research into animal welfare has been internationally published and we are currently developing revolutionary rearing facilities that reduce the impact on our environment and produces better performing pullets for our supply chain.

Increasing the number of our own flocks and growing our base of producers relies on support and management from our expanding Agricultural Team who work across the whole of our production chain.

Our farms are part of a global case study for best practice and we work with others in agriculture to improve sustainable free range production across the UK and with WISPA to improve sustainable farming across the globe.
